Softball Game Preview: Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines vs. Franklin Indians

The Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines will head out to challenge the Franklin Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Tech & Environmental Science will be strutting in after a win while Franklin will be coming in after a loss.

Western Tech & Environmental Science took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Kenwood as they made off with a 17-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Bluebirds: they've now won five in a row.

Juliahna Thomas was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Lenhardt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Western Tech & Environmental Science always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Franklin's offense. They lost 11-0 to Dundalk on Monday. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Franklin, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Western Tech & Environmental Science has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Western Tech & Environmental Science took their win against Franklin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
