Baseball Recap: Pike Gets the Win

The Pike Red Devils were able to grind out a solid victory over the Greenon Knights on Friday, taking the game 9-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Jimquell Young, Jr and Lincoln Sigmund were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Young, Jr struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Sigmund didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Young, Jr scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Sigmund went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chrystan McNeal, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Rory Weaver was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Pike's record is now 2-0. As for Greenon, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
