Softball Game Preview: Ross Rams vs. Franklin Wildcats

For the second straight game, Ross will face off against Franklin. The Rams will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Ross' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Franklin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Ross' usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Franklin hitters got past them. The Rams fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 12-10 on Wednesday. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For Franklin's part, Hailey Cooper made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cooper was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sarah Brooks was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Josie Whitt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Ross, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
