Softball Preview: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. Topsail Pirates
Ashley is 1-9 against Topsail since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Ashley Screaming Eagle will look to defend their home field against the Topsail Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ashley scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against New Hanover as Ashley made off with a 20-1 victory. The win was just what Ashley needed coming off of a 14-4 defeat in their prior contest.
Emerson Lee made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Lee was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
