Soccer Game Preview: Royal vs. Moorpark

Royal is 2-8 against Moorpark since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Royal Highlanders will look to defend their home pitch against the Moorpark Musketeers at 7:15 p.m. Royal is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Royal's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Saturday. Everything went their way against Kennedy as Royal made off with a 3-0 victory. The matchup marked the Highlanders' most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Moorpark won against Camarillo on Wednesday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Friday. Moorpark walked away with a 2-0 victory over Simi Valley. Given the Musketeers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Pioneers are ranked 791st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win made it two in a row for Moorpark and bumps their season record up to 8-1-2. As for Royal, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10-2.

Royal suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Moorpark in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Royal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
