Baseball Game Preview: Argo Argonauts vs. Plainfield South Cougars

The Argo Argonauts are taking a road trip to square off against the Plainfield South Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Argo is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Riverside-Brookfield, falling 12-2.

Argo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Valente Melero, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another was Xavier Brant, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, Plainfield South was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Streator, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since May 7, 2024.

The win got Plainfield South back to even at 1-1. As for Argo, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
