Softball Recap: Clayton Valley Charter Comes Up Short

Clayton Valley Charter fell victim to Cardinal Newman and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 1-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Ugly Eagles of the 7-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Clayton Valley Charter has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4-1 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-5.

Clayton Valley Charter didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-4 tie against American Canyon on the 4th. As for Cardinal Newman, they have also already played their next match, a 6-1 victory against San Marin on the 4th.
