Baseball Game Preview: Sunnyslope Vikings vs. Pinnacle Pioneers

The Sunnyslope Vikings will take on the Pinnacle Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sunnyslope fell victim to Basha and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 9-0 to the Bears.

Meanwhile, Pinnacle never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Valley Vista with a sharp 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Dean Duran tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Brayden Bullard and Jackson Marazzo did most of the damage at the plate: Bullard went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Marazzo went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Marazzo a new career-high. Raul Escobar also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win got Pinnacle back to even at 6-6-1. As for Sunnyslope, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
