Basketball Recap: Hunters Lane Takes a Loss

Hunters Lane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Overton Bobcats and fell 56-23. The Warriors lost against the Bobcats in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 80-74 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Hunters Lane lost, don't look at Isaiah Mcgill. Despite the final result, he posted two points. The dominant performance also gave Mcgill a new career-high in blocks (two). Stephon Curry also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Overton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tahj McLemore, who went 8 of 12 en route to 17 points and seven boards. Jehmel Madison was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Hunters Lane's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Overton, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Hunters Lane and Overton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Hunters Lane (ranked 361st) will meet Cane Ridge (ranked 83rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Overton will face off against Antioch at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 139 places (221 vs. 82).
