The McKeesport Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Carrick Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. McKeesport is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
McKeesport fell victim to Baldwin and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Fighting Highlanders, falling 16-0.
McKeesport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Ross, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.
Meanwhile, Carrick made easy work of Westinghouse on Tuesday and carried off a 14-1 victory. Considering the Raiders have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
August Arnold Jr made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Arnold Jr was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Jaiden Gill and Luzay Watson did most of the damage at the plate: Gill got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Watson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Gill has become a key player for Carrick: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. William Garrett was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
McKeesport's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Carrick, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
McKeesport came up short against Carrick when the teams last played back in March of 2019, falling 6-1. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
