Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Joshua Battle and Jeron Mckenzie Lead Russell County to Victory

Russell County won the last time they faced Pike Road and things went their way on Saturday too. The Russell County Warriors came out on top against the Pike Road Patriots by a score of 78-70. The Warriors pushed the score to 63-42 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.

Russell County was led to victory by Jeron Mckenzie and Joshua Battle. Mckenzie went 8 of 11 on his way to 20 points and eight steals, while Battle went 8 of 16 on his way to 20 points. With that strong performance, Mckenzie is now averaging an impressive 3.3 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacorrian Roberts, who posted six points.

The victory made it two in a row for Russell County and bumps their season record up to 12-4. As for Pike Road, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.

Russell County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-39 win against Rehobeth on the 7th. As for Pike Road, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 77-57 victory against Park Crossing on the 7th.
