Basketball Recap: Sharon Springs Central Comes Up Short

Sharon Springs Central lost against Laurens Central back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sharon Springs Central Spartans fell just short of the Laurens Central Leopards by a score of 47-45.

Despite the loss, Sharon Springs Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sophia Insogna dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Insogna has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zarie Barbic, who posted 12 points and four steals.

Sharon Springs Central has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Laurens Central, the win was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Sharon Springs Central will face off against Richfield Springs Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Laurens Central has already played their next contest (against Franklin Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
