Baseball Recap: Pueblo Takes a Loss

Pueblo extended their losing streak to 12 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-15 in the process. They came up short against the Nogales Apaches, falling 15-1. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Apaches when the teams met back in February of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pueblo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Victor Sanchez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

As for Nogales, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8-1 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Nogales' side, Andy Baldenegro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Baldenegro has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Danny Cerezo was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Diego Gomez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

While Pueblo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
