Thomas Heyward Academy had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 7-10 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rebels have posted since February 24th.

As for Patrick Henry Academy, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.

For Patrick Henry Academy's part, Scoot Mizzell was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Mizzell has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Mizzell wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rylin Brunson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Coming up, Thomas Heyward Academy will be playing at home against Andrew Jackson Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Branchville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
