Basketball Game Preview: Pensacola Catholic Crusaders vs. West Florida Jaguars

Two dominant guards in Solomon Sutton and Brayden Justice are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pensacola Catholic Crusaders will square off against the West Florida Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pensacola Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully West Florida likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Pensacola Catholic got the win against West Florida Baptist Academy by a conclusive 58-34. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.

Sam Quebedeaux continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 of 12 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sutton, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Pensacola Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, West Florida came up short against Escambia on Tuesday and fell 47-40. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Pensacola Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for West Florida, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Pensacola Catholic strolled past West Florida in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 70-56. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Justice, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Pensacola Catholic still be able to contain Justice? There's only one way to find out.
