Volleyball Recap: Sheridan Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Thunder Basin

Sheridan faced Thunder Basin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Broncs fell just short of the Bolts by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bolts this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat last Tuesday.

Sheridan started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-14, 17-15.

Leading Thunder Basin to victory were Reece McGrath and Traecyn Hilliard. McGrath had 27 digs and seven assists, while Hilliard had five digs and four aces. That's the most digs McGrath has posted since back in November of 2024.

Sheridan's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Thunder Basin, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Sheridan has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against East on the 1st. As for Thunder Basin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Laramie on the 1st.
