Football Recap: Katia Slama and Dania Rodriguez Secure Win for King City + How To Watch

King City won the last time they faced Soledad and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mustangs came out on top against the Aztecs by a score of 22-9.

A big part of King City's win came down to the chemistry between Katia Slama and her top target Dania Rodriguez. Slama threw for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Rodriguez picked up 34 receiving yards and two scores. King City is undefeated when Rodriguez posts two or more receiving touchdowns, but 2-5 otherwise. Another big playmaker for the Mustangs was Alejandra Medrano, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

King City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zireth Casimiro and Rodriguez.

The victory got King City back to even at 5-5. As for Soledad, they moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. King City is set to challenge their familiar foe Salinas at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Soledad will take on rival Marina at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Aztecs 10.8, the Mariners 14) so any points scored will be well earned.
