Glenwood Springs hasn't had much luck against Montrose recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Demons will square off against the Red Hawks at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Glenwood Springs has three straight wins, Montrose has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Glenwood Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Montbello 26-8 on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Demons with their most commanding win of the season.

Jamison Godfread was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Godfread was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Glenwood Springs got a massive performance out of Evan Neuman, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Neuman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Irving, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Glenwood Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Montrose fell victim to Palisade and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 14-0 to the Bulldogs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 16, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Montrose's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Glenwood Springs, their record now sits at 10-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Glenwood Springs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Montrose struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Glenwood Springs skirted past Montrose 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Demons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
