Shelbyville has won eight straight games at home, while Mooresville has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Golden Bears will host the Pioneers at 11:00 a.m. Shelbyville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Shelbyville had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Yorktown put an end to it on Wednesday. The Golden Bears lost 10-1 to the Tigers. The Golden Bears' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Addison Stieneker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mooresville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Carmel.
Reagan Bauer spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mooresville let Cierra Cramer and Sophie Culp run wild. Cramer got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one double, while Culp got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Turner, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mooresville is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Shelbyville, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.
Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shelbyville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Mooresville struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
