After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Artesia, Goddard was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Portales Rams, sneaking past 4-2. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Juliet Gallegos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayla Morales, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Goddard pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Portales, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Goddard beat the Rams by a score of 4-1 later that day.
