Baseball Game Preview: Bloomington Purple Raiders vs. Champaign Central Maroons

The Bloomington Purple Raiders will challenge the Champaign Central Maroons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Champaign Central will be up against a hot Bloomington squad: the team just extended their winning streak to ten. Everything went the Purple Raiders' way against Peoria on Monday as they made off with a 15-1 win. 15 seems to be a good number for the Purple Raiders as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Champaign Central and Peoria Notre Dame had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Maroons blew past the Irish 8-1 on Monday. The game was the first time the Maroons have beaten the Irish on their field since May 1, 2021.

Bloomington's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Champaign Central, their win bumped their record up to 14-11-1.
