Basketball Game Preview: Wall Eagles vs. Dakota Valley Panthers

The Wall Eagles and the Dakota Valley Panthers will round out the year against one another at on Monday.

Wall saw some tournament action last Saturday. The matchup between them and Lakota Tech didn't end well, with Wall falling 56-41. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Wall saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Allie Kjerstad posted ten points and three steals. That's the most points Kjerstad has posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Dakota Valley put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 68-52 win over Canton. The Panthers pushed the score to 59-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the C-Hawks cut but never quite recovered from.

Dakota Valley's win came from a few key players Wall will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ella Otten, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 21 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emersen Mead, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Dakota Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Wall, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Wall has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 34 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Dakota Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 boards.
