Football Game Preview: Scurry-Rosser Wildcats vs. Rice Bulldogs

For the first time this season, Scurry-Rosser will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Rice Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scurry-Rosser comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Scurry-Rosser took on Kerens on Friday. The Wildcats took a 33-14 bruising from the Bobcats.

Although Scurry-Rosser took the loss, they still got scores from Caleb Peavy and Case Kilgore.

Even if they lost, Scurry-Rosser's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Colten Smith was especially locked on to Kerens' QB and sacked him twice. Smith also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 11.

Meanwhile, Rice hadn't done well against Kemp recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs strolled past the Yellowjackets with points to spare, taking the game 46-27. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The win made it two in a row for Rice and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for Scurry-Rosser, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Scurry-Rosser against Rice in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 68-14 win. In that contest, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 65-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
