Basketball Preview: Fredonia Yellowjackets vs. Eureka Tornadoes
Fredonia and the Tornadoes are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Fredonia Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Eureka Tornadoes on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fredonia has three straight wins, the Tornadoes have four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Fredonia has not done well against the Chargers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Fredonia claimed a resounding 60-25 win over the Chargers at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Fredonia has managed all season.
Eureka lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by Humboldt at home and fell 56-22. While losing is never fun, Eureka can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Cubs are ranked 144th).
Fredonia's win bumped their record up to 8-5-1. As for Eureka, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Fredonia skirted past the Tornadoes 51-49 in their previous matchup last Friday. Does Fredonia have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tornadoes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
