Lyons had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Highland Huskies with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Lions have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jake LaCrosse made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Lyons is 9-1 when LaCrosse posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Leo Irvin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Russell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Lyons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted an OBP of .344.
Lyons' record is now 12-6. As for Highland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyons will welcome Dawson School at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Highland, they will be playing at home against Yuma at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
