Faith Christian (Arvada, Colo.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 14 points, drop to seven before the final whistle blew on a 17-10 victory over
Bennett (Colo.).
The Eagles were up 17-3 at the half after taking the lead on a
Deven Tyler touchdown run in the second quarter.
Faith Christian saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to seven entering the fourth.
Tyler was the top performer for FC. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 16 touchdowns on the season.
Tanner Wineland played well for the Tigers. The junior caught one touchdown and kicked one field goal and one extra point. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.
Bennett's lone touchdown came on a pass from undefined to Wineland in the third quarter.
The Arvada school had given up an average of 7.0 points prior to the contest. The 10 points that BHS ended with were well below its average of 43.0 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Bennett, which notched a 73-0 victory over Sheridan in its previous outing.
Faith Christian (8-2) goes up against Bennett in a playoff game matchup next week, while Bennett (7-3) locks horns with Faith Christian also in a playoff game.
