League recap: Strafford scores huge upset over Skyline

Mid-Lakes recap Oct. 9, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Strafford, who took down 84th ranked Skyline, 41-32. Jacob Wade threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 131 yards in the win.

Logan Allred of Ash Grove ran for the longest rushing play in Mid-Lakes this season against Pleasant Hope last week. Allred ran for 80 yards on the play and finished with 237 on the day as his team beat the Pirates.

Dallas Hester made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Indians beat the Tigers. The 6-foot-0 sophomore pulled down one interception.

Dalton Taylor was the best wideout in the league this week as Strafford defeated Skyline. Taylor racked up five receptions for 83 yards. Hester helped Strafford's passing attack out by catching three balls for 76 yards.

Tim Hester's team's Wade and Hester have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wade has thrown for 1165 yards this season, while Hester, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 19 catches for 441 yards. Ash Grove's Allred leads the league in rushing yards with 931.

Doug Martin's team's Allred is a mere 69 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.

A big matchup in Mid-Lakes this week will be when the Pirates take on the Eagles. As it stands, Ash Grove is in third, while Fair Grove is in fourth.

The Indians moved up to 94 from 123 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 41-32 win over Brandon Shelby's team helped Strafford improve its standing.
