Volleyball Recap: Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] won the last time they faced Niobrara/Verdigre and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bobcats skirted past the Cougars 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bobcats have posted since September 9th.

Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 25-22.

Kaylee Thiele went supernova, getting 16 digs and two aces. Those 16 digs gave her a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, Niobrara/Verdigre saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lynae Nielsen had ten digs and three aces. Nielsen has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times she's played.

Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s victory ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 5-13. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] and Niobrara/Verdigre will both be playing Boyd County the next time they take the court. The Bobcats will head out to face the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cougars will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
