Lone Star extended their winning streak  to eight  on Friday, bumping them up to 8-0. They were the clear victors by  a  34-13 margin over the Wakeland Wolverines. Fans of the Rangers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+  points.
A big part of Lone Star's  victory came down to the chemistry between  Rece Hoyt and his top target  Trey Wright. Hoyt gained 160 total yards and two touchdowns while  Wright rushed for 120 yards and one  score on only ten carries.
 Lone Star was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 270  rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  rushed for at least 160  rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
 One reason for the win was Lone Star's imposing  defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department,  Marcel Dominguez was the leader with two. Another thorn in Wakeland's side was  Nico Viveros, who made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Having lost for the first time  this season, Wakeland  fell to 8-1. The  contest marked their lowest-scoring  matchup so far this season.
 Despite the loss, Wakeland still got an impressive performance from   Braxton Cole, who rushed for 121 yards and one  touchdown. The Wolverines also got help from  Grayson Myer, who showed off his sure hands for 100  receiving yards.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lone Star will  face off against  rival Lebanon Trail  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. That  game will pit two of the most dominant  signal callers against one another:  Wright and  Jordan Jones. Meanwhile, Wakeland is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Sherman  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
