Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Van-Far

Van-Far waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 66-52 win over the North Callaway Thunderbirds. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pacey Reading was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 16 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Utterback, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Van-Far smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 14 consecutive games dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why North Callaway lost, don't look at Jamarion Glover. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Blevins, who posted nine points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Van-Far's record now sits at 9-1. As for North Callaway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Van-Far will take on Silex in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Callaway and Louisiana will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
