Baseball Recap: Western Takes a Loss

Western extended their losing streak to 18 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-20 in the process. They lost 6-0 to the Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vaqueros this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 back in March.

As for Rancho Alamitos, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 17-1).

For Rancho Alamitos' part, Henry Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Garcia has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Daniel Martinez was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carson Labossiere, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

While Western had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
