Softball Recap: West Perry Mustangs vs. Big Spring Bulldogs

West Perry had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-9-1 to make it ten. They came up short against the Big Spring Bulldogs, falling 20-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 back in March.

Taylor Lupfer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Big Spring, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Big Spring's side, Rilee Stewart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave Stewart a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI.

In other batting news, Kendall Boring-Gutshall was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Davina Raudabaugh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.
