Football Game Preview: Weequahic Indians vs. Newark Central Blue Devils

The Weequahic Indians will head out to square off against the Newark Central Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weequahic's defense has only allowed 9.5 points per game this season, so Newark Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Weequahic is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Shabazz 23-6 on Thursday.

Samiyah Hutchins was the offensive standout of the matchup as she rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 32 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Newark Central entered their tilt with Wayne Valley on Tuesday with four consecutive wins dating back to last season, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 19-12.

The victory got Weequahic back to even at 2-2. As for Newark Central, their record is now 1-0.

Weequahic suffered a grim 27-7 defeat to Newark Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
