Baseball Game Preview: Loyd Star Hornets vs. Amite County Trojans

Loyd Star has gone a perfect 10-0 against Amite County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Loyd Star will host Amite County at 6:30 p.m. Loyd Star is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Loyd Star played in-conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they were looking for. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over Bogue Chitto.

Carson Cunningham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jordyn Kees, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Barrett Womack also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Loyd Star hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bogue Chitto struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Amite County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 19-2 to West Lincoln.

Amite County's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Loyd Star, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Loyd Star took their victory against Amite County when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0. Does Loyd Star have another victory up their sleeve, or will Amite County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
