Softball Recap: Gonzales Wins Going Away Against San Antonio Memorial

While Gonzales put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for San Antonio Memorial. The Apaches were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Minutemen. Considering the Apaches have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dixie Rea Lester made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alaina Valle was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryah Gonzales, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Gonzales always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Gonzales is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for San Antonio Memorial, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Gonzales will be playing at home against Cuero at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gobblers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Apaches surely won't give up without a fight. San Antonio Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
