Baseball Recap: Melissa Takes Down Mt. Pleasant in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Melissa rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Mt. Pleasant Tigers 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 on Thursday.

Melissa is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-8.

Looking ahead, Melissa will challenge Reedy on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 3.2, the Lions 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Mt. Pleasant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
