Baseball Preview: Schurz Bulldogs vs. Intrinsic Mustangs
Schurz is 0-5 against Intrinsic since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Schurz and Foreman have met, but the home crowd finally got their W two weeks ago. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 16-7 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Schurz's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mitchell Quiles, who got on base in five of his two plate appearances with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.
Quiles wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Schurz lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Intrinsic played against Kelvyn Park on Tuesday and won via forfeit.
The win was the fifth in a row for Intrinsic, bringing their record up to 6-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Schurz, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.
Schurz suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Intrinsic when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
