Basketball Recap: Griffin Brek Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Granger

The Emery Spartans beat the Granger Lancers 65-55 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Emery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Griffin Brek led the charge by going 6-for-11 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. Sitterud Porter was another key player, shooting 54% from the field to rack up 21 points and five assists.

Emery was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They racked up six more assists than Granger's also-impressive total of ten.

Despite the loss, Granger still got an impressive performance from Benson Turcsanski, who posted 16 points. The contest was Turcsanski's third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Braslau Fotso Simo, who put up nine points and seven boards.

Emery's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Granger, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emery will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Juab at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Granger, they will welcome Stansbury at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
