Basketball Game Preview: Lovett Lions vs. Mount Paran Christian Eagles

The Lovett Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Mount Paran Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lovett is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They managed a 58-52 victory over Athens Academy. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Spartans are ranked 347th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mount Paran Christian waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took down the Wolves 66-51.

Mount Paran Christian's win came from a few key players Lovett will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cameron Hewling, who went 10-for-15 to rack up 28 points and five rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 54% in the last nine games he's played. Christopher Park was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Mount Paran Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Lovett is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. Mount Paran Christian's record now sits at 18-13.
