Basketball Recap: Providence Prep Piles Up the Points Against Bishop Reicher Catholic

While Providence Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-13 win over the Bishop Reicher Catholic Cougars. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Providence Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lilly Hodge out in front who went 5 for 9 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Hodge is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Morrison, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points and five steals.

The win (which was Providence Prep's sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Bishop Reicher Catholic, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Providence Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-6 victory against Methodist Children's Home on the 7th. As for Bishop Reicher Catholic, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Valor Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 27, 2025.
