Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Acalanes Dons

The Mt. Diablo Red Devils will challenge the Acalanes Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Diablo has now lost 17 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 26.

Mt. Diablo is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against College Park on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mt. Diablo was outmatched by College Park and fell 80-45. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1161st, while the Falcons are ranked 324th).

Despite the defeat, Mt. Diablo had strong showings from Eric Warrick, who posted 18 points, and Christian Kuuan, who earned 17 points. That was a full 40% of Mt. Diablo's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Acalanes unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 57-37 to Campolindo. The contest marked the Dons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Acalanes' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 15-5. As for Mt. Diablo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-19.

Mt. Diablo suffered a grim 72-50 defeat to Acalanes in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mt. Diablo was down 44-11.
