Baseball Recap: Kerman Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Kerman faced off against Washington Union on Thursday. The Lions came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 9-5. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Joban Hans was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hans was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Max Ramirez and Daniel Lanfranco did most of the damage at the plate: Ramirez got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Lanfranco went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those two runs gave Ramirez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Borges, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Kerman's record now sits at 9-15. As for Washington Union, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-15.

Coming up, Kerman will face off against Sierra Pacific at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Washington Union, they will square off against Firebaugh at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
