Baseball Recap: Kirby Comes Up Short

Kirby entered their contest against Raleigh-Egypt on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars lost 16-10 to the Pharaohs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pharaohs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-8 on March 4th.

Erick Valles and Brajan Chavarria did some serious damage despite the final result: Valles went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Chavarria got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Valles has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last seven times he's played. Kaleb Clark also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Kirby's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Raleigh-Egypt, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Kirby will be playing at home against Mitchell at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Raleigh-Egypt, they are taking a road trip to take on Memphis East at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
