Volleyball Game Preview: Westwood Warriors vs. Dobson Mustangs

Westwood has gone a perfect 10-0 against Dobson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Dobson took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Westwood, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Westwood beat Mesa 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Jackrabbits: they've now won four in a row.

Westwood had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-19.

Ricardo Alvarado and Jack Carpenter were among the main playmakers for Westwood as the former had 12 digs and three assists and the latter had five digs, three aces, and one block. Those 12 digs gave Alvarado a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Red Mountain, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since March 20th.

Westwood's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Dobson, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Westwood took their victory against Dobson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
