Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

If Mt. Vernon was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of St. Francis DeSales on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellowjackets lost 3-0 to the Archbishop McNicholas Rockets on Saturday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-17.

Hunter Thompson paced Mt. Vernon's offense, picking up 12 kills. Thompson got some help from Isaiah Campbell and his 19 assists. Joey Ferguson controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Mt. Vernon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Archbishop McNicholas, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Mt. Vernon has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against St. Vincent-St. Mary on the 12th. As for Archbishop McNicholas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against St. Francis DeSales on the 12th.
