Soccer Game Preview: Decatur vs. Bridgeport

The Decatur Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Bridgeport Bulls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Decatur has six straight wins, Bridgeport has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Decatur's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Mineral Wells. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Rams are ranked 612th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Bridgeport's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Graham on Friday.

Decatur's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Bridgeport, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Decatur took their victory against Bridgeport when the teams last played on February 7th by a conclusive 7-1. In that contest, Decatur amassed a halftime lead of 4-1, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
