Baseball Game Preview: Oldenburg Academy Twisters vs. Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars

The Oldenburg Academy Twisters are taking a road trip to take on the Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oldenburg Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Oldenburg Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Shawe Memorial on Thursday. The Twisters never let the Hilltoppers get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The Twisters' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Greenwood Christian Academy came out on top against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run second inning. The Cougars blew past the Crusaders 12-5. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Preston Van Til and Caden Camden made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Van Til tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Camden pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Van Til has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Van Til got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI and one run, while Camden went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Camden has become a key player for Greenwood Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Eli Jackson and Oliver Goodman did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Goodman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Goodman a new career-high. Collin Sookram also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Greenwood Christian Academy's record now sits at 5-3. As for Oldenburg Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Oldenburg Academy couldn't quite get it done against Greenwood Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Twisters avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
