Softball Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils
The Del Norte Nighthawks will take on the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Del Norte took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Mira Mesa 5-4. The Nighthawks haven't had any issues with the Marauders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Alexis Kyles was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey LLamas, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Del Norte lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Carmel). Everything went their way against Valhalla on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-2 win. The Sundevils not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024.
The victory made it two in a row for Mt. Carmel and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Del Norte, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.
Del Norte beat Mt. Carmel 4-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will the Nighthawks repeat their success, or do the Sundevils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
