League recap: Dunmore extends winning streak with victory over Western Wayne

Dunmore added to the longest winning streak in Lackawanna 2 this week by beating Western Wayne, 42-16. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Bucks.

Honesdale scaled the state rankings by moving to 367 from 419 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Hornets were able to move up by besting Lakeland 47-21.

Dunmore's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brandon Kujawski threw for 122 and 2 touchdowns and Josh Zilla had 99 yards receiving. On the ground Daiqwon Buckley chipped in 189 yards. Josh Sawka helped Dunmore's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 23 yards.

Kevin Miller was a passing and rushing force as Honesdale topped the Chiefs. He completed 11 passes for 163 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 42 yards. Miller's favorite target this week was Joshua LoBasso, who caught 2 passes for 51 yards.

Zilla was the best receiver in the league this week as Jack Henzes' team beat the Wildcats. Zilla tallied 2 receptions for 99 yards. Sawka helped Dunmore's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 23 yards.

5-foot-11 quarterback Miller of Jim Ludwig's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 845. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Zilla. The Dunmore star has 20 catches for 410 yards.

The top two teams in Lackawanna 2 will face off this week when first place Dunmore takes on second place Mid Valley. Last week, the Bucks bested Western Wayne, while Mid Valley topped Riverside.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Dunmore's Zilla goes up against the Spartans' Ryan Kenny.

Donnie McDonough's team lost to the Bucks 42-16 last week, the largest margin of any game. Scott Walck was a bright spot for the Wildcats, as he threw for 20 yards and 1 touchdown, ran for 10 yards and caught 2 passes for 37 yards in the loss.
