Baseball Recap: Gloucester Catholic Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bishop Eustace Prep

Gloucester Catholic had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Bishop Eustace Prep Crusaders by a score of 5-1 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won four in a row.

Gloucester Catholic got a great performance from Jude Morgan as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Morgan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jason Bogart was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Guy Lynam, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Gloucester Catholic pushed their record up to 23-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bishop Eustace Prep, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-7.
